Why the forum exists
Flight safety starts with talking to each other. Incidents and near-misses hold hard-won experience, and that experience is worth little as long as it stays with the one operator who lived through it.
Flyoperativt Forum is where that experience is shared across companies, authorities and disciplines — by the people who handled it, rather than through a report. That is the point of the conference, and has been since the first one in 1987.
Who meets there
Those taking part come from airlines, helicopter operators, the Civil Aviation Authority, the Safety Investigation Authority and the Air Force. It is an operational gathering rather than an academic one: most people in the room are responsible for how something is actually done tomorrow.
The conference is open to everyone, press included. Talks are given in Norwegian and English, and our Nordic neighbours have been regular guests for many years.
How the forum is run
Flyoperativt Forum is organised with a board registered in Brønnøysund and a working committee that plans and runs the annual conference. Its members are resource people in Norwegian aviation who want to help advance the operational community.
The conference is carried by its partners and by the work that goes in between one conference and the next — most of it in people’s own time.

The working committee is seven resource people from Norwegian aviation. Their backgrounds, and what each of them brings, are on a page of their own.
